Animal Stores Keeper

We have an exciting and newly created opportunity available supporting the animal operations teams as an Animal Stores Keeper.
Set in 25 hectares of tranquil surroundings, Hamilton Zoo is home to more than 600 native and exotic animals. With four animal departments, this role is crucial for supporting these teams with daily diets, enrichment and browse.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about animals, has experience in either animal keeping and/or preparing food, managing a kitchen and stores area. With four animal departments to support – this person must have great organisational skills for getting through daily tasks, as well as developing ways that the stores role can effectively run and support all teams daily.
The successful candidate will be a motivated team player, experience in animal husbandry, food preparation, browse identification and knowledge around enrichment is preferred. Your skills will support the keeping staff for daily operations and help us achieve best practice for our animals.
You’ll need to have an understanding of modern zoological best practices and be very safety conscious.
The role is a full-time position working on a roster across 7 days of the week. You will be required to collect goods using Zoo vehicles as required, a full NZ drivers’ licence is a must.
