FULL TIME EQUINE VETERINARY NURSE
Vets on Alabama, Blenheim, Marlborough.
This is a new position. We are looking for an equine nurse to help develop the horse work within a mixed practice here in Marlborough, supporting an experienced equine surgeon both on the road and in the clinic. Marlborough has a mixed equine population from high-end sports horses to many pleasure horses and riding ponies.
The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 0830 to 1730 with no on-call requirement at present. All applicants must be proficient and confident handling horses including lunging and trotting up.
The clinic is situated on the outskirts of Blenheim with four paddocks and two outside yards, a covered equine barn that includes stocks, two examination areas and a separate equipment and workroom.
Current equipment includes a new wireless digital x-ray system, Mindray M9 ultrasound, portable 1.5m endoscope, equine dental power-float and in-house IDEXX lab shared with the rest of the clinic.
Remuneration will be competitive and determined by experience and qualifications. This should be considered a learning position and CPD both in-house and away from the clinic will be encouraged and supported.
What we are looking for:
· Bright, personable, can-do attitude with efficient work ethic and willingness to learn.
· Recognised qualification in veterinary nursing or technician preferred.
· Ability and willingness to work independently is essential. While part of a larger team, most of the time will be spent assisting the principle equine vet, away from the rest of the nursing team.
· Practical aptitude to work with equipment and equine patients in a mobile environment.
· Full driving licence
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Proficient computer skills
This is an opportunity to be located in the beautiful Marlborough region and become part of a fantastic team. Marlborough offers a safe community for young families and good schooling options. It has a unique environment, with great access to amazing outdoor activities, sports and clubs.
