Invercargill City Council are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and customer focused Animal Control Officer to join our Environmental Services team. This is a permanent full-time position with rostered on-call duties to assist in safeguarding the community through providing effective animal control services.

In this varied position your key responsibilities will include animal ranging and control, seizure and impoundment of animals, feeding and exercising impounded dogs, ensuring cleanliness of the animal care facility, conducting investigations and producing written reports whilst demonstrating consistency and compliance with legislation.

With previous demonstrated experience in a compliance/regulatory role your passion and knowledge will shine through with your confidence in handling and working with animals, communicating and educating members of the public on responsible dog ownership. A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline e.g. Veterinary Nursing or Animal Welfare and administrative experience would be advantageous.
