We want more good people to come and do great things with us. We love where we live. That's why we work so hard to look after our region and the people who live and work in the Waikato region.
Customers sit at the heart of everything we do, and all staff have an important role to play in the delivery of exceptional customer service.
Our work is as diverse as the region we care for; from the tip of the Coromandel Peninsula to the slopes of Ruapehu. We've got ambitious goals and there are some tricky issues, but that's what makes it so interesting.
Are you a self-starting, outgoing personality who enjoys forging positive relationships? Do you have a close affinity with or are able to relate to Waikato's rural communities? Are you passionate about enhancing New Zealand's unique biodiversity values, and are you keen to implement Biosecurity programmes to protect and enhance biodiversity, catchment, and production values?
If you answered "yes" to all the above, then it is likely Waikato Regional Council's Biosecurity Pest Animals Team is the right place for you to showcase your talent.
The successful candidate will be working in a strong team environment to provide expertise in the management of pest animals. Your excellent communication skills, technical expertise, and project management experience will add value to our team who through the implementation of the Regional Pest Management Plan support the management of animal pests in the Waikato Region.
To be considered for this position you will have between 8-10 years of experience in a biosecurity related field (e.g. biodiversity restoration, pest management) and a tertiary qualification or relevant industry training.
Well developed project management skills are a pre-requisite for this role and the successful candidate will have proven communication and interpersonal skills.
Looking for flexible ways of working options, at Waikato Regional Council we are committed to working more creatively to 'get work done' in a way that is of mutual benefit to you, the organisation and our communities.
