Shelter Attendant - Full Time
Pet Refuge New Zealand Charitable Trust provides temporary shelter for pets affected by domestic violence, keeping them safe while their owners escape abuse. We're looking for an experienced attendant to join our shelter team in enriching the lives of vulnerable pets escaping abusive homes.
About the Role: Due to growth of the charity we are looking for a new shelter attendant. Pet Refuge isn't your typical shelter, we're a temporary home away from home - Our yard includes an obstacle course, our days include planning enrichment activities and executing bespoke care, our kennels are purpose built (and heated for winter) and our pets celebrate all the major holidays (Christmas dinner was especially pup-ular). The nature of the work we do means days can be challenging, so if you're looking for something cruisy this role is not for you, but we can promise your efforts will be rewarded when each pet returns home to start a new life.
Contract: Full Time
Hours: 40hrs per week (includes weekends) Thursday to Monday
Is this role for you? It's important to us to find the right fit, both for you and the shelter and the pets in our care, so we encourage you to consider the below before applying.
- Our shelter is in rural Auckland, so depending on where you're based, you need to add time to your commute. We appreciate this and do offer a fuel allowance to eligible employees.
- We exist to reunite pets with their families to start a better life. If our mission appeals, we'd love to chat.
- The pets in our care come from a range of different backgrounds, are often large breeds and can join us with behavioural challenges. That said, we're set up to manage this, and to provide the best care and environment possible. Sometimes the work is challenging, but it's always rewarding.
- To balance our team's week, we rotate the roster around each area so you must be comfortable working with all pets - Primarily cats and dogs, but occasionally other small pets too.
If this sounds like the role for you we'd love to chat. Please email a current CV and covering letter by 4pm on Saturday the 23rd of July 2022.
Please note that we will only contact successful candidates for interviews.
