Join us as an Animal Control Officer and play a part in ensuring our community has access to quality Animal Control services 24/7.
In this varied and rewarding position it will be your role to administer and enforce legislation in relation to the control and welfare of animals ensuring that the citizens of and visitors to Selwyn District are aware of their legal rights and obligations.
This is a "hands on" role which will see you proactively investigating and resolving enquiries in relation to animal control across our district. You will be involved in taking necessary enforcement action under required legislation, promoting responsible dog ownership, maintaining the dog pound and resolving stock control issues.
To be successful in this position you will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), a high level of attention to detail and computer literacy, as well as a commitment to customer service, teamwork and continuous improvement.
You'll need to have demonstrable experience in handling and caring for dogs and stock and at least two years' experience working with customers and the general public.
The position can easily fit around your week day commitments as you will be working 8 hours per day on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and you'll be on call Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings as a well as public holidays so you'll need to be flexible to work around the needs of our community.
