Veterinary Associates Equine is seeking applicants for a part-time seasonal Vet Nurse Assistant position. This is an opportunity to work with a dedicated team of fifteen veterinarians and seven nurses in a full-service equine ambulatory and referral practice. The position is for shifts shared with other team members on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays, rostered ahead of time. In other words, the applicant needs to be available for work on Saturdays, Sundays, Public Holidays and will generally work every other weekend. 


Responsibilities will include mucking out and feeding hospital patients, in addition to holding patients during procedures and assisting the veterinarians and senior nurses as needed. Veterinary Nurse Qualification is not required, and training will be provided to the right applicant. Experience working with horses is a requirement, and favourable applicants will have strong horse-handling skills, a willingness and ability to perform physical labor, and an enthusiastic and team-oriented attitude. The position is fixed-term for 6 months; however, for the right individual, there may be an opportunity for it to become a permanent position.


Veterinary Associates is an equine general and referral practice located in Karaka, South Auckland, New Zealand with a satellite practice in Kumeu, West Auckland. The hospital is well-equipped with the latest equine medical technology. Karaka is a lovely rural community located just thirty minutes from Auckland’s central business district.
