We are a lovely little mixed practice in Te Awamutu (Waikato), the rose capital of New Zealand. We have 1 FT and 2 PT Vets with 3 nursing staff and lots of vet techs. We are looking for either a mixed animal vet with a small animal bias or a companion animal vet who is willing to work up to 32 hours a week (this can be negotiable). The vet hours are from 9am-5pm Monday- Friday and 9am-12pm on a Saturday. Saturday consults are required as part of a roster system (1 in 3).
On a daily basis we have enough work to keep us busy without being overbooked but due to growth we need to add an additional vet to the team!! Our practice manager and reception team are fantastic at scheduling and are really good at putting in blocks and catch ups, and not working us too hard! We also have designated admin and training blocks
Consults are a minimum of 15 minutes, and we put a cap on three procedures per day, (not including the inevitable on the day admits!) Some parts of the days are sole charge but we work together to support each other.
Communication is fully open within the team, and if you are in want of virtually anything, just ask, and it will happen! Our nurses bill your procedures, get your meds ready, do all your discharges, and basically make life incredibly easy for you.
Our team are genuinely lovely people who are great at their jobs. They come to work each day with enthusiasm and a smile, and they are always keen to embrace new learning opportunities when they arise.
Our clients enjoy a holistic care approach and enjoy working with our vets to get the ideal treatment plan for their animal (large or small).
We have a recently refreshed and purpose designed clinic. We have all the standard small animal equipment needed including inhouse Idexx machines, IM3 dental cart, digital xray and ultrasound.
We are looking for someone who is great with people, is compassionate and has excellent communication skills. This is a role for someone who is passionate about animal healthcare and wants to continue to grow within the profession. You must be able to work well within a team and have good time management skills. A minimum of 2-3 years experience is required for this role, however we would be open to applications from recent graduates due to continued business growth. We are also happy to support veterinarians returning to practice after a career break.
Please note that all applicants must be registered with the NZVC. Applicants must be willing to complete a DISC profiling assessment.
