Not your run of the mill Head Veterinarian position!

This role will be focused more on the clinical side of the position rather than administration. You will have support from both a Medical Director (veterinarian) and an Office Administrator regarding clinic/personnel management and you will have the support of both a Head Nurse and Triage/Reception Team Leader that manage the nursing team and front desk staff for our clinic. We currently staff a team of approximately 20-25 members that is continuing to grow and need a veterinarian with the passion to continue this growth and learning.

There are also some things you may need to know about our team rather than just the role we’re looking to fill.

We strive to remember why we are in this profession to begin with, so our team is happy with this choice of work and enjoys what they do for a profession.

We support each other to learn and grow with continuous upskilling and education, reviewing cases together and making time to discuss how we can improve our quality of care.

We think the wellbeing of our staff is as important as the medical care we provide to our patients. We focus on work-life balance and being there for each other through the good and the hard days.

Being a part of a 24/7 specialist and emergency clinic will bring new challenges and opportunities for you, with diverse cases that bring unique experiences and insights into exceptional veterinary care there is a lot of room to grow and develop.

While we don't require crossover between nights/days (unless wanted), we expect our team to respect and value our facility's day and night departments. Having good communication skills is essential for the synergy of the clinic.

On top of a very competitive compensation package, we also provide continuing education support with a yearly CPD allowance and time allotment, weekly journal club meetings and regular M&M rounds, as well as VIN and applicable memberships are included. Wellbeing support such as free counselling services, mental health focused leadership and all the canteen goodies that an ER team’s needs.

At least 5-years’ experience in this field is required but could be negotiated for the right candidate. Sponsorship for overseas staff is possible. We are seeking to fill the role at our Mt Albert site.
