Part-time Small Animal Veterinarian Wadestown, Wellington
Wadestown Vet Clinic & Cattery is a well-established small animal practice, and one of the few remaining independent and locally owned clinics in the Greater Wellington Region. We pride ourselves on providing quality veterinary care for our patients and have fostered an environment of dedicated and friendly clients and happy staff. We are a supportive workplace, encourage CPD and special interests are supported.
Due to recent growth, we now have a position available for an experienced part time vet to become part of our team. We are looking for our vet to be excited and motivated about being part of our growth and all the changes that come with this. We are not a busy clinic so there is time for thorough case work ups and two other vets to provide support.
You will have complete flexibility in the hours you work, the type of work you do, what drugs, food and shop items we stock and equipment we purchase (we have purchased mostly new equipment in the last 18 months). We have a great nurse:vet ratio - who are very skilled - to help you be a vet, and our nurses are nurses (we have dedicated reception and cattery staff)! Though you will be working sole charge at times, both owners of the practice are vets and support is available at all times over the phone and to come in and help with tricky cases/busy times.
If you are returning to the industry after a break, we will financially support CPD to help you regain your confidence and if needed, ensure there is always another vet working with you initially. We support family friendly hours too.
In addition to providing veterinary care for the hospital, you will on occasion treat our boarding cats in our cattery and support our staff and students. We currently have 1.5 vets, a practice manager, two nurses per veterinarian, a dedicated receptionist and dedicated cattery staff. We have digital radiography, ultrasound, IM3 dental machine and all inhouse laboratory facilities. We are an I131 provider for the Wellington Region, however there is no requirement for you to be involved in the treatment or their care unless you are interested.
The ideal candidate will have these attributes:
- excellent general veterinary skills and high standards of care
- outstanding customer service and communication skills
- passionate about animal welfare
- flexible and efficient
- friendly and love working within a local clinic
- confident working sole charge
- minimum 5 years’ experience
- enjoy working up cases thoroughly and up to date with current treatments/recommendations
Our rate of pay is commensurate with experience and what skills you can offer in this role. The position is available at any time, and we are happy to sponsor a vet from overseas if this is required (though we are currently unsure of the process!).
If you're a friendly, motivated and confident veterinarian, keen to share our passion for delivering outstanding care for our patients and clients, then we would love to hear from you.
We value integrity, communication and kindness.
