Customer Support - NZ Companion Animal Register x2
This job is no longer accepting applications.
Companion Animals New Zealand is the charity that owns and manages the New Zealand Companion Animal Register (NZCAR). Having completely rebuilt and modernised the NZCAR during 2021, we are now establishing an in-house support office. This will be a remote office environment to allow for better continuity of service, flexibility for employees and allow us to consider applications from around Aotearoa.
The NZCAR receives many emails and freephone enquiries each day. We require two highly competent, friendly individuals to provide telephone and online support to pet owners and our implanter & enquirers (that is, veterinary clinics, animal rescues, breeders, and local councils).
Support staff update animal records and process orders while providing advice for users to become more self-sufficient in the future. Some empathic lost animal advice is also required
We envision one staff member working 8am to 12:30 weekdays and one 1:30pm to 6pm. It may be that that the support staff alternate mornings and afternoons. Some of this time will be sole charge.
The successful applicants will be familiar with the companion animal industry and preferably have experience with microchip registrations on the NZCAR. They will have an excellent and unflappable telephone manner and be able to problem solve. Strict adherence to policies, especially around privacy, is a must. As this is a work-from-home position, self-motivation and efficiency is critical. We are looking for the ability to contribute to a team, although working alone.
In addition: support staff will have the opportunity (if time allows) to contribute to one of two work streams. Either assisting with Welfare/Research or assisting with Marketing.
*Assisting with Welfare means helping design and perform research gathering in association with the Companion Animals New Zealand Welfare and Operation Officer. Interest in data collection and statistics is preferred.
*Assisting with Marketing means creating social marketing posts and responding to online comments queries. Experience with Canva and Hootsuite would be ideal.
While you will have contact with co-workers and clients throughout the day, you will be working alone. While many people say they would prefer to work from home, long-term working from home takes some diligence and energy to ensure you are up to date with our systems and feeling part of the team. This role will require occasional travel around New Zealand.
In case of a natural disaster, the NZCAR service can become very important as part of the national animal welfare emergency management response. It is expected that NZCAR staff may be required to work outside of normal hours in these instances. Flexibility to cover sick leave or holidays would be a bonus.
Applicants must have a suitable home office set up, including a quiet place to work, suitable broadband availability etc. (See pay & benefits below). You must have space for a small amount of stock and the ability for quick courier pick-ups from your home.
Pay & benefits:
Pay is up to $25 per hour
Phone system, laptop and accessories provided
Home office allowance paid monthly
Interviews will be held early or mid-October. This position to begin in mid-to-late November for training. We plan to be fully operational by the first week of December 2021. Availability over Christmas 2021 is a must.
Position descriptions available on request.
