Veterinary Nurse, Small Animal, Dunedin

Qualified Veterinary Nurse required
Green Island Veterinary Clinic
100% small animal
Do you want to join a friendly team of professionals working in a modern, well equipped, small animal practice?
After recently successfully recruiting a nurse, another position has become available due to a colleague moving away from Dunedin. Our clinic is looking for a qualified Veterinary Nurse to work alongside 5 other nurses and 4 Veterinarians. The position can be tailored to the needs of the applicant, either fulltime or part time. Green Island Vet Clinic has been announced as the winner of the NZ Veterinary Association, Veterinary Business Excellence Award for 2021.
We are a primary care practice located in Green Island, providing small animal medical and surgical services to our clients in the Dunedin area.
We offer clients compassionate care for their pets. Everything we do is to help owners give their pets their best life possible.
We are well equipped with digital dental xray and IM3 dental equipment, digital general xray, ultrasound, endoscopy, ECG, a comprehensive in house IDEXX lab and more. We use Ezyvet practice management software.
This is an ideal opportunity in Dunedin, where good nursing jobs are limited and there is ample opportunity to enjoy the recreational opportunities that Dunedin and Otago offer.
We need a qualified Veterinary Nurse, at least holding the National certificate in Veterinary Nursing, and with relevant experience in veterinary practice or related fields. You must be a NZ resident or citizen or already hold a valid NZ work visa and be currently residing within New Zealand and be available for an in-person interview in Dunedin.
We are looking for the right person for our team. Importantly we are looking for someone who will approach work in a positive manner, be an asset to our team and provide exceptional service and care to our clients and their pets.
A desire for continuous improvement and attention to detail are paramount as well as the attribute of being personally accountable for following through on any commitments they make to clients and other staff.
The role would be best suited to an experienced nurse but the right team member may be someone with the right qualifications but who had had few opportunities in the past to develop their skills. We can be flexible with hours of work and would look to offer the right candidate a role that suits both them and the practice.
The position will cover all aspects of Veterinary nursing including surgical and medical care, clinical pathology, reception and administration duties.
There will a requirement to participate in an on-call roster with the rostered vet.
Currently this commitment is approximately one weekend night every 1 months on our local roster with 3 other clinics, and a weeknight once a fortnight covering our own practice.
Currently clinic opening hours are,
Monday to Friday
7.30 am until 6.00 pm
Saturday, 8.30 am until noon (these opening hours may be extended in the future).
Actual hours of work for this vacancy are open to negotiation but will fall within these hours. As the workload of a veterinary clinic can be unpredictable, some flexibility and a willing attitude to work beyond the normal hours of work at times will be required.
