Matamata, Waikato, New Zealand

Full time

Aug 27

Do you want to live, work and play in one of the most intensive pasture-based dairying regions of the world? If you do, then you should apply for our one-year Dairy Internship program, commencing in December 2021.

Matamata Veterinary Services is a 29 veterinarian, mixed-animal practice situated in the heart of New Zealand’s premier dairy-farming region and only 1.5 hours south of Auckland. MVS is one of New Zealand’s leading dairy vet practices and has been at the forefront of the dairy industry nearly 70 years. Our caseload is high and varied; there are 65,000 cows within a 15km radius of our clinic, with the majority of cows calving in the spring. You will be exposed to all aspects of dairy cattle veterinary work including medicine, surgery and a very high reproduction caseload (including obstetrics). In this practice, there is a strong focus on herd health and preventative medicine programs. You will work alongside an experienced group of practitioners with a wide range of skills and expertise. Formal tuition and mentoring are an integral part of this role. Our veterinarians are supported by a dedicated team of ten veterinary nurses, three technicians and eight administration staff.

A culture of quality service to the client, dedicated care of the patient, teamwork and fun, exists in this practice. CPD is valued, supported and expected. The remuneration package for this position is $55,000 NZD pa, along with a vehicle and an iPhone.

This position is ideally suited to a new or recent graduate that wishes to rapidly upgrade their dairy vet skills. Applications should include a cover letter and a CV including the names of two referees.
