About the role

Exciting opportunity for a qualified Vet Nurse to join the Dunedin SPCA team, working part time (30 hours per week) with no weekend or after hours’ work! Working with a great team in a newly built clinic with the added benefits of helping to set up the clinic exactly as you would like it! 

The Vet Nurse provides support to the on-site Veterinarian with a variation of responsibilities. Maintaining good communication with the Animal Care team to facilitate the flow of animals through the centre and providing support and training to the Animal Care team to nurse our animals back to health. 

The role requires a confident and experienced nurse with enthusiasm to develop our clinic into a highly functioning core of the centre. 

The successful candidate will:

- Be a qualified senior Vet Nurse with a minimum of 2 years’ experience. 

- Be highly adaptable to apply your skills in the shelter setting. 

- Be passionate about animal welfare. 

- Have a great attitude with confidence to support and train the team. 

· Have excellent written and oral communication skills

· Have the ability to manage stress and handle emotional situations while retaining empathy
