Who are we looking for
Are you an animal lover and do you enjoy working with a variety of people? Then this could be the job for you! Make a difference in our district, join our enthusiastic and dedicated team of Animal Control Officers who have a mission to "keep our community safe" through proactive education and engagement with our communities.
The primary purpose of the role is to deal with community queries and requests surrounding the control of dogs and stock within the Waikato District. The animal control team engages with dog and stock owners to educate them about their obligations with respect to legislation and bylaws and are proactive about compliance.
There is a strong focus on engaging with the community through the education service we provide, adoption program, desexing program and community events that are targeted at preventing non compliance, improved animal welfare and reducing harm to and from animals.
The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated team that is driven to succeed in its mission and provide a service that the community and Council are proud of.
To be effective in this role we are looking for a team player with proven communication skills and a demonstrated history of working unsupervised and/or in critical situations. We are looking for someone who has the ability to deal with situations and customers with empathy and respect, and can achieve an outcome that is appropriate in the circumstances after considering all the options available.
You must hold a full NZ driver's licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
