The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi  

We’re seeking a Laboratory Animal Technician to join our busy research unit at our leading Faculty of Medical & Health Science, where ground-breaking research is carried out every day. This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in supporting some of the University’s world-leading research, where you will directly contribute to bettering the lives of people in New Zealand and around the world.  

This position is primarily focused on ensuring we are meeting the highest standards of animal welfare while also managing the husbandry, hygiene and breeding practices. This position primarily involves working with small animals, but it is imperative that you have experience managing a variety animals.   

He kōrero mōu | About you 

You will ideally have prior experience or a qualification in animal care, you will be able to demonstrate your understanding of the New Zealand Animal Welfare regulations. 

While we provide training, you will have had prior experience in animal care and management (through a pet store, veterinary clinic or other such environments). Excellent communication skills are a must, as you will be required to work both independently and seamlessly as part of a busy team.
